<description>Review of the book by Ad-Deen:

This book, as the name mentions, discusses the best of stories; the author has used the title of the book as &#039;the best of stories&#039; to discuss the story of Hadhrat Yusuf عليه السلام.

It didn’t take more than the introduction than to keep me glued to the book and increase my enthusiasm into carrying onto the next page. As the days continued, my eagerness also grew; I couldn’t put down the captivating book which had caught my attention through its smooth, flowing and extraordinary writing style. The author introduced certain aspects of life related to verses which were mentioned within the book; this method of writing gave me a notion that the book was not written to be read silently, but moreover so that it could be shared, understood and its points adopted into our lives; a book full of wisdom, advices and general guidelines of life.

The life of Yusuf عليه السلام was far from easy, simple and smooth; instead it was packed with trials and tribulations, tests and hardships, separation and hurt. His life was a painful event that not only had an affect on him and his beloved father, Ya’qub عليه السلام, but it encompassed the lives of many people around him also.

The author, Shaykh Abdur Raheem, takes the reader hundreds of years back into the time of Yusuf عليه السلام to make us understand and comprehend what he went through and after doing so, the author, brings us back to our current time to give us the realisation of a lesson learnt from this story:

No matter what time and era you live in, you will always face opposition and trials; but it is only through patience, perseverance and firm belief in Allah alone that will keep the servant of Allah going strong and happy through the trials of this world.

As servants of Allah, we cannot choose our family or the people around us; we cannot be in control of the many events that take place in and around our lives but we can always choose to persevere and turn towards Him alone.

This is a story that has been told time and again, but Shaykh Abdur Raheem brings a new angle of light to this commentary to explain how every believer can adopt the experiences of Yusuf عليه السلام into his own life in times of calamities, loneliness, desperation, accusations and despair.
