Q612: Seeing the prophet (saw) in a dream with a small beard

Question:

I would be very grateful if you could kindly shed some light on a dream I had recently. Some time ago I took my mother out shopping, in order to make her happy with me, I told her that I would buy her whatever she wanted and that I would take her out afterwards to any restaurant she wanted to go to, and I did as I had said. That night in a dream I saw a man with small eyes and a small beard, I said to myself in the dream ‘I thought he had larger eyes’ – I was surprised because I was convinced I was looking at Rasulallah Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam, but not in the way he has been described then i saw the same man standing with normal larger eyes and a handsome face in a dark place at a little distance from me, he didn’t look directly at me but he was looking in my direction and he was neither sad nor happy, also, it only lasted a few moments. My question is whether this is a true vision of Rasulallah Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam or not and any other significance the dream has.

At present I do not have a beard but do intend to grow one soon, I pray my Namaz and also send durood upon Rasulallah Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam.

Answer:

When a person sees the Prophet Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam in a dream then he has really seen the Prophet Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam regardless of condition and state.

The Prophet Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam has said

Narrated: The Prophet said, “Name yourselves with my name (use my name) but do not name yourselves with my Kunya name (i.e., Abul Qâsim). And whoever sees me in a dream then surely he has seen me, for Shaytan cannot impersonate me. And whoever tells a lie against me intentionally, then let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire.” (Al-Bukhari)

Many a times when a person sees someone from a distance, it is possible that he falters in the details and description. Similarly when we se a dream, we could make a mistake in minute details. So don’t worry about the small eyes.

The point you mentioned regarding seeing Prophet Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam with a small beard, many a times when a person sees the Prophet Sallalahu Alayhi Wasalam in an unusual form, is in reality an indication towards the persons own shortcomings.
In your case, it is indicating that you should keep a beard as you have mentioned that you intend to keep one.

Stay firm on your intention of keeping a beard and try to be punctual of the sunnah. Also continue serving your mother as it is a very important part of our religion and this, along with her duas, will benefit you in this world and the hereafter.
