Q820: Removing extra fat through surgery.

I was wondering if a person was extremely fat and lost all the weight he would have a lot of extra skin. Would he be able to remove it through surgery or just have to live with the extra skin?”

Surgery for just beauty, eg liposuction should be avoided.

Surgery for medical need is permissable, provided the pain is not beyond one’s capacity to take and the most likely possibility is cure. If there is a risk of fatality, it will not be allowed.

Mufti Khalid Saifullah narrates from al-hindiyyah

In your question, the removal of the fat should be permissible.

Assalaamu Alaykum, I noticed the question was for removal of extra skin and not fat. So I am wondering will the ruling still stand?
If its not fatal and not so painful that the body cannot bare it, the extra can skin be removed.
    Jazakallah khair.
May Allah accept your efforts. Ameen.

Jazakallah for that. At least someone is reading carefully.

I mistakenly wrote fat instead of skin. If the skin removal surgery is also for medical purpose and under the instruction of a specialist, not just to look younger, then this would be permitted.

For looking young, we are not permitted to dye the hair black, so how will surgery be allowed?
